💀 Character Information
Name: Kylo Ren
Canon: Star Wars: The Force Awakens
Canon Point: Post-film. Following his duel with Rey, after Starkiller Base begins to fracture and disintegrate.
Age: 29
Description: Standing at six foot three and weighing in at a hundred and ninety-five pounds, Ren tends to stand out in a crowd even if you ignore the all black wardrobe and mask fetish. He's built lean but solid with a face that is more striking than handsome. Pale skin, dark hair and eyes with a rather ugly scar that starts in the middle of his forehead, bisects his face, and ends just below the right side of his jawline.
Physical changes: Given that Ren dies as a result of catastrophic blood-loss, I'm thinking he'll arrive in Hell with even paler -- almost bloodless -- skin.

Powers:

FORCE SENSITIVE. This refers to his ability to perceive and interact with the Force,  an invisible energy field that permeates and connects all living and non-living things. In addition to the baseline abilities of most Jedi, Ren is gifted with telekinesis, which I'll be expanding on further below. However, given the nature of these abilities I'm cool with any nerfing deemed necessary.
  • FORCE SENSE: The ability to detect fluctuations in the Force. This typically enables you to pick up on the surface thoughts and emotions of a person.
  • MIND PROBE: The ability to telepathically extract information from a person's mind. It's typically incredibly painful, due in fact to the mind's natural inclination to rebel against any invasion.
  • MIND TRICK: Otherwise known as "Force Persuasion". This ability, introduced by Ben Kenobi in A New Hope, enables you to influence and redirect the thoughts of others. It only works on the weak-willed.
  • FORCE PUSH\PULL: The ability to push an object away from or pull it toward the Force user. One of the common uses is in disarming an opponent or forcing them out of striking range.
  • FORCE CHOKE: This ability, made infamous by Darth Vader, is when a Force user slowly exerts pressure on their opponent's throat until they either faint from lack of oxygen or their windpipe is crushed.
  • FORCE GRIP: The ability to grip an object and hold it in place through the Force. Ren makes use of this ability several times over the course of the film, stopping a blaster bolt mid-air as well as immobilizing both Rey and Poe.
PHYSICAL ABILITIES. These are normal, largely learned, abilities that have little to thing to do with Ren's Force abilities.
  • DUELIST: Ren is an exceptionally skilled duelist and practitioner of both Shien and Soresu forms of lightsaber combat.
  • HIGH PAIN THRESHOLD: Despite being seriously injured, Ren is able to engage first Finn and then Rey in combat and manages to defeat Finn and hold his own against Rey.
  • EXCEPTIONAL REFLEXES AND ENDURANCE: Fairly self-explanatory and ties in with the above points. Ren has been trained for well over a decade if not more and has honed his physical abilities much in the same way he has honed his mental ones.

MUNDANE ABILITIES. Miscellaneous skills he's picked up over the course of his life.

  • MECHANIC: Ren inherited the Skywalker knack for tinkering, constructing his own lightsaber from scratch.
  • ARCANE LORE: Ren has made a fairly extensive study of both Jedi and Dark side lore.
History: Wiki page.
Hell Status: Hell Newbie

What Brings Them To Hell: In a word: the business end of his grandfather's lightsaber. Mind you, he wasn't exactly a winner from the outset. He has killed a lot of people -- his uncle's apprentices, for a start -- as well as being complicit in the death and torture of others.  He might not have always agreed -- the Hosnian system, anyone -- but he definitely did it anyway.

The Pitch: Kylo Ren believes he is the hero of his own story and it shows. Both Abrams and Driver have supported this, stating that Ren is a fanatic. That he is someone that believes wholly and unreservedly that his cause is just -- this is something that he clings to in the wake of his inner conflict and self-doubt. He may not believe in himself but he believes in the First Order, in Supreme Leader Snoke, and is willing to burn everything to the ground in order to see that they succeed. After all, sometimes you need to completely uproot and destroy the old, corrupt, system to make way for the new.

However, I ask myself: what will happen if this is taken from him? Imagine the panic as he scrambles to find something, anything, to fill that space.

Ren needs something to dedicate himself to. Brimstone and Little Hades will likely become that thing as he eventually adjusts, throwing himself wholeheartedly into this new life. He's ruthless, dedicated and can be downright arrogant if the situation calls for it. He's the scion of one of the most powerful bloodlines in the galaxy, the grandson of none other than the Anakin Skywalker, and while he'd like to pretend that the majority of his life pre-Snoke never happened, he still takes a tremendous amount of pride in his heritage.

But the angry rage-monster isn't all that there is to him. He's more than just a blunt instrument -- though he and others like to pretend otherwise -- and is actually quite intelligent. In many respects he is the best and worst of his parents, with Leia's ferocity and dedication (and something approaching principles) and Han's cunning and willingness to exploit weaknesses in others. A good example of this would be when he lured Han out onto that bridge with him, convincing him that he repented and would return with him only to turn around and drive his lightsaber through his father's chest. Given the choice he will always choose himself and his survival.

So basically he's a work-in-progress. Someone that can, once the growing pains and inevitable violent denial passes, be a tremendous asset to Brimstone and dare I say even fun to let loose in this setting.

Setting Fit: Initially Ren is going to take his death badly. This is definitely not the ending he saw for himself -- not that he saw an ending at all -- and to say that he's bitter and unamused by this turn of events is an understatement. He'll rail, rebel and he'll get punished for it. Sometimes severely.

However, ultimately it's going to be an interesting opportunity for him. He thrives on challenge and, independent of his Master's influence, will have to reconsider both his approach and start thinking about what he wants out of his afterlife. Growth might even happen.

He'll likely wind up taking on a Reaper job with an eye toward eventually becoming a Hell Marshall. He is doggedly determined and vicious as Hell, and if it gives him a chance to vent his frustrations on someone truly deserving then so much the better.
